Album #1: Alligator Bites Never Heal by Doechii
Favorite Song: Catfish
Notes: “Alligator Bites Never Heal” is a fun and upbeat album while still having some serious social commentary in there, which in my opinion makes it such a top tier album. Doechii’s growth as a musician is very prominent here, and I think it’s also important to the album. She is very fun and witty, and this has to be one of my favorite rap albums of 2024.
Album #2: Speak for Yourself (Deluxe Version) by Imogen Heap
Favorite Song: Goodnight and Go
Notes: Imogen Heap’s musical ability is absolutely phenomenal and I’m becoming such a fan. I was surprised while listening to this album to realize I know some of these songs already, and I just never paid any attention to who wrote them. This album is honestly insanely good and I do recommend it to anyone who wants to hear something different than what’s typically mainstream.
Album #3: Make Room by Destroy Boys
Favorite Song: Piedmont
Notes: Although this is the weakest album out of the three, it’s still decently good. I do believe that Destroy Boys has grown a lot as a band since this album, so it’s not the greatest display of their musical talent. I did enjoy some of the songs on here, as they are your basic indie rock songs with nothing too extremely special. The cover art is cool however!
