The Nashville Hornets came to Chester to face off for the last regular season game on Friday October 24th. Both teams flashing winning records, and hoping for a win to get a better playoff seed. Both teams fought hard, but it was Chester that came out on top and won 29-19.
Passing was led by Senior Tray Peters with 206 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions. Receiving was led by Junior Tashawn Palacio with 106 yards and 1 touchdown, and Junior Alex Blechle with 71 yards.Rushing was led by Junior Alex Blechle with 45 yards, Senior Ethan Colvis with 44 and a touchdown, Palacio with 24, and Peters with 14 and a touchdown.
The defense was led by Colvis with 12 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 tackle for a loss. Blechle forced and recovered a fumble, Palacio had 2 interceptions, and Senior Derrius Shoemate intercepted a ball and ran it back for a pick 6.
The win guaranteed the Yellow Jackets a home playoff game and the 8 seed in the playoffs. They finished the regular season with an impressive 8-1 record. They welcome Maroa Forsyth in the first round on Saturday and hope to make a deep run in the playoffs.
