In the 2025-2026 school year, two parenting classes were added, taught by one of our many great teachers, Mrs. Kern. Currently, Kern’s two parenting classes are working on the topic of childcare. While the students are learning about childcare, Kern brought in two representatives from a program called Head Start, to help her students better understand childcare and what they do to help children and their families.
Moving forward to what this presentation was about. The leaders who came from the Head Start program to present information to the students were Anitra Brockmeyer who is the Disabilities Manager, and Amanda McConachie who is the Center Operations Manager. They both briefly talked about what they do in the program, how they help children and their families. This program specifically serves over 218 children. To teach these young children from ages 3-5, they provide various services. These services include housing and transportation, teaching children many skills, and even checking in on their family as well. This gave the students the knowledge about the Head Start program and what they do, and how they do things. This presentation was overall a great presentation to get the students to understand Head Start.
