CHS and CGS Junior High students listened to a presentation from Brittany Richmond in the high school Colbert Gym on October 27, 2025. Richmond’s presentation was about anxiety and general depression in teens and preteens.
High school student Ashlyn Via was asked how she felt while listening to the presentation. “She was a really good speaker, and she got her point across to the kids with ease. She gave me the inspiration to speak up to others about my feelings”. This is so important because students need to open up and talk when they need to.
Richmond talked about how important it is to talk to someone about your feelings and to always be kind. You never know what someone is going through. Someone could be dealing with a lot at home or even mentally and they act completely fine at school. The most important words she kept repeating were “Tell Me More”. Richmond told a story about a high school student that she met. At first, the student seemed fine and happy with her life, but once she started talking, the student opened up. The only three words Richmond spoke were “Tell Me More”. Those three words have a powerful meaning to someone who has no one to talk to.
For this event, there are several sponsors. Some sponsors are Comwell and The Healthy Communities Alliance (HCA). They were so kind as to help spread awareness about anxiety and depression in teens. They are helping make sure that the future generation after them knows that it is okay to get help and speak up about how you feel.
When Mrs. Clendenin was asked what she thought about the guest speaker, she said “I think she did a great job about trying to use relatable language to you guys and pointing out that we all go through things. If we are brave enough to talk about it or be there for someone else to talk to it helps to lessen the load. I love how she shared “tell me more” for us all to use as a tool to help each other.” This is so helpful even for the teachers, it’s not just a tool for teens but
adults too.
