Album #1: Chaos Angel by Maya Hawke
Favorite Song: “Missing Out”
This album was suggested by fellow Senior Sting member Megan Zimmer. Chaos Angel is an indie album by famous actor Maya Hawke, known for her work in Stranger Things, Inside Out 2, and the Fear Street film series. This album is beautiful and graceful; you can truly feel Hawke’s emotions. “Missing Out” showcases Hawke’s feelings of being in a different place in her life than other people who are her age. It’s easy to relate to this song-whether through academics, social status, or personal property. We constantly compare ourselves to others and often take our lives, especially our youth, for granted. It’s so easy to dwell on how others live that we often forget to live our own lives in a way that makes us happy. We’re too worried about others and what we can do to fit in, instead of what we can do to live our lives how we want, to the fullest.
Album #2: bbno$ by bbno$
Favorite Song: “Come To Brazil”
Notes: Bbno$’s self-titled album came out on October 17, and I wasn’t sure what to expect when listening to it. This album is clearly a witty party album with a lot of hip-hop and pop elements, and it definitely sets itself up for a fun time. I surprisingly really enjoyed some of the songs on this and even added some of them to my playlist. If you’re looking for something that’s not serious at all, then this is the perfect thing for you. All of the songs sound like they belong together, without being too similar. It’s interesting hearing Bbno$ play around with music in this way.
Album #3: Melt by Not For Radio
Favorite Song: “My Turn”
Notes: Not For Radio is a solo project made by María Zardoya, who is the lead singer of the band called The Marías, which is known for their popular songs online titled “Sienna” and “No One Noticed.” You can definitely tell that Zardoya has a certain singing style and writes music that is very personal and raw to her. Melt is Zardoya’s first and only album release for Not For Radio, as the project is fairly new, debuting this year. This album is just ethereal, and I absolutely loved it. If you listen to any album on this list, this is the one that I recommend the most!
