Album #1: Ashes by Abby Roberts
Favorite Song: “Paramaniac”
Notes: My favorite album from this list, Ashes by Abby Roberts explores the issues of body image, jealousy, and womanhood as a whole. Roberts’s vocals and musical choices gave me major vibes of another artist, Beabadoobee; so if you enjoy one’s music then you would enjoy the other’s. I especially loved the song “Paramaniac,” as Roberts sings about how she feels so poorly about her own life and constantly complains, yet she doesn’t do anything to fix her lifestyle. This is definitely something many people relate to, as people complain over and over about certain aspects of their life, yet barely ever try to change these issues. I recommend this album to everyone.
Album #2: Midnight Sun by Zara Larsson
Favorite Song: “Eurosummer”
Notes: Zara Larsson’s newest album has a summer vibe that reminds me highly of early 2010s music. It’s very upbeat and touches on themes of love and self-positivity. That being said, I surprisingly did not enjoy this album all that much. I thought it was doing too much musically, that made it almost annoying to listen to. I tried my hardest to enjoy it, but it’s just not my style of music.
Album #3: Sun Kissed (Deluxe) by Kenzie Cait
Favorite Song: “Best Behavior”
Notes: Kenzie Cait’s newest album is a summery record that includes multiple different styles of music on it. I have previously listened to an album by her before titled Good Luck, Goodbye, and I found it hard to enjoy. The same can be said about this album. I struggled to find enjoyment in this album, as it was just boring. The different musical styles of this album caused it to sound like a jumbled up mess and it was just an odd listening experience. This was definitely my least favorite album.
