On Saturday night, the Yellow Jackets’ basketball team set the single-season win record versus Trico.

Chester’s 23-5 record eclipsed the mark set by the 2012-13 regional championship team. Last year’s team tied that mark. The 2018-19 team still has three regular-season games left before post-season.

With the 49-37 win, the Jackets remained perfect in conference play at 10-0. Chester started the game out strong, outscoring Trico 19-2 in the first quarter. The Yellow Jackets continued to dominate throughout the second quarter, leading 30-10 going into the half. The Jackets came out of the half cold, only scoring 6 points in the third quarter and having their lead cut to 15. The Yellow Jackets held off the Pioneers in the fourth quarter to win.

Keith Kiner III led the team in scoring on the night with double digits.

Chester travels to Goreville Feb. 12 before hosting Sesser on Friday and Sparta on Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets will remain in Colbert Gym next week when they host the Chester Regional. Chester is the top seed in that regional.

The regional schedule is:
