Chester High School celebrated its fall sports seniors during the final home football game against the Nashville Hornets on Friday, October 24. Among the programs honored that evening was cross country.
Ivan Hobbs is the only senior on our cross country team. Ivan first joined cross country in eighth grade because his mom wouldn’t allow him to join the football team. In his first race he ran 1.4 miles in 16 minutes. After high school, Ivan plans on collecting and caring for animals and working as a game warden or a veterinarian-related career. Ivan said his favorite memory is “Mr. Paige’s 7th hour U.S. History class. We gave Mrs.Hoskin a hard time, but the class we had was fun overall. I remember Larry Sorto shaking a root beer bottle up in class and opening it for it to shoot everywhere.” Ivan likes Cross Country because he believes it isn’t based on natural gifts, Ivan works extremely hard to achieve his place in sports but he knows if he worked harder, he would’ve done better
