Mrs. Kern’s fourth-hour Foods class took a field trip to the Sam’s Club in O’Fallon, IL, on Wednesday, November 19th. Eleven students from this class attended this adventure. The students boarded the activity bus at 9:30am, , and off they went.
The purpose of this trip was to stock up on food for the Just for Jackets Pantry, especially since some students use that service for Thanksgiving. Those students will now be provided with meals for the holiday.
While there, the class was given the task of finding certain food items and staying within their allotted budget. They had a list and, for items they could not find, they found substitutes. Several students reported that they took good naps on the roughly one-hour and ten-minute bus ride to and from. Some students’ favorite part was the free samples that Sam’s offered.
After their action-packed-day of stocking the pantry, the group arrived back at CHS at 2:15pm. When asked whether she had fun on the trip, Mrs. Kern stated, “Yes, I believe that the students and I enjoyed the trip and look forward to going again.”
The trip was a success and loved by students and teachers alike, and the Just for Jackets Pantry is ready for Thanksgiving!
