The National Honors Society induction ceremony was on Wednesday, November 12th at 6:00 PM, in Chester High School’s Colbert Gym.
In attendance were current and newly inducted NHS members, the speakers, and family and friends.
Returning members were David August, Maggie Caby, Callie Davis, Lillian Diskey, Southern LaChance, Erin Liefer, Rylie Myers, Trayton Peters, Madison Stauffer, Jessica Stumpe, Olivia Vasquez, and Camryn Wolff.
Newly inducted members were Monica Anaya, Jackie Bess, Logan Brace, Hayden Cartwright, Revolution Chaput, Aubrey Colvis, Weather Colvis, Lexi Davis, Aleah Eggemeyer, Joella Eggemeyer, Addison Gottschammer, Bailey Hartmann, Annah Helvey Ahring, Kross Jany, Grace Kirpatrick, Karim Landeros, Treyton McCartney, Anna Menefee, Laylee Rogers, Isabel Smith, Katie Werner, Elizabeth Wilson.
Speakers included CHS principal Mr. Jeremy Blechle; teachers and NHS advisors: Mrs. Ray and Mrs. Hankins, and NHS officers President Camryn Wolff, Vice Presidents Maggie Caby and Olivia Vasquez, Treasurer Cally Davis, and Secretary Trayton Peters.
Each student speaker lit a candle before delivering their speech. Highlights included President Wolff’s reflection, “Scholarship Lights our path- helping us understand the past, interpret the present, and illuminate the future”. Treasurer Davis spoke of the importance of character: “By demonstrating qualities like respect, trustworthiness, responsibility, and caring, we prove the value of our character by example.”
Following the speeches, new members were called forward individually to sign the official chapter register before receiving their membership card, pin, and patch.
Overall, the ceremony was a meaningful and successful event celebrating academic achievement, leadership, and service.
