Album #1: Girl by Coco & Clair Clair
Favorite Song: “Gorgeous International Really Lucky”
Notes: This album felt unexciting to me. I didn’t have any strong emotions when listening to it; I was just waiting for it to be over. I really enjoy some of Coco & Clair Clair’s music, but this album was just annoying. If I had to choose a favorite song, it would have to be “Gorgeous International Really Lucky,” but even then it was just okay.
Album #2: Hot Pot! by Mikayla Geier
Favorite Song: “Diva”
Notes: Before listening to Hot Pot!, I had never heard of Mikayla Geier, but this album is just amazing. Each song is unique and fun, and Geier’s writing style is quirky and charming. If you choose to listen to any album off of this list, this is the one I recommend the most. Her music reminds me a lot of Reneé Rapp mixed with Charli XCX, so it’s just a perfect mix of dance and pop music.
Album #3: I Only Cry Rhinestones by Acacia Forgot
Favorite Song: “No Crime”
Notes: The second piece that I have reviewed by Acacia Forgot, I Only Cry Rhinestones, is a three-song country EP that is very reminiscent of her debut album, The Farm. Although this is short, I absolutely loved this EP. It’s a great listen, and truly sets up just how great of an artist Acacia Forgot is.
