The Environmental Green Team went on a field trip to the St. Louis Zoo on Monday, November, 24 2025. Mrs. Hankins took twelve students on the activity bus, leaving CHS about eight o’clock a.m, and arrived at the zoo at roughly nine forty five a.m.
Students were allotted $15 to get lunch. Most restaurants and shops there were cashless, but the Lakeside Cafe accepted cash. Most of the food options at this Cafe were $12-$15. Members got to see different animals and exhibits that were going on. Students also got the chance to visit Starbucks and several small gift shops.
The weather on that day was overcast and in the forties and fifties. Everyone dressed for the chilly weather and enjoyed the day. The animals also did not seem to mind the chill in the air. The zoo’s inhabitants were rather active that day. Several students noted seeing certain animals, that are typically lazy, move.
According to Mrs. Hankins, “The purpose was [to] see the snips [and] read/learn about conservation.” She also mentions that she had a nice time on the trip. The trip was informative, educational, exciting, and appreciated by everyone.
