Album #1: Maybe I Already Am by Jordan Suaste
Favorite Song: “Scary To Be Loved”
Notes: Jordan Suaste was someone I used to listen to a lot a couple of years ago, but it’s been a while since I gave his music a good listen. So when I saw that he released a new album, I decided to jump back in and see if his music was how I remembered it. I can definitely say that this album is very reminiscent of his earlier work. I didn’t see much growth in that aspect, but that isn’t always a bad thing. His music reminded me a lot of popular artist Conan Gray, so if you like one, then you would most definitely enjoy the other. This was my least favorite album of the week.
Album #2: Vie by Doja Cat
Favorite Song: “Take Me Dancing (feat. SZA)”
Notes: Doja Cat’s newest album, Vie, is a disco-inspired hip-hop album that’s very funky and dance-like. I enjoyed this album so much and I constantly caught myself wanting and trying to dance along with it, even if I didn’t mean to. This album is amazing and definitely my favorite one on the list. Doja Cat reconnects with her earlier album Planet Her while still creating a fun and fresh new style and aesthetic for Vie. This is a perfect example of an artist trying something new while still staying true to her own style.
Album #3: Stage Girl by Eli
Favorite Song: “Marianne”
Notes: Stage Girl is a fun, upbeat album that feels like a fusion between artists like Chappell Roan, Addison Rae, and Charli XCX. Eli’s music is slightly calmer than theirs, but I wouldn’t be surprised if, in a couple of years, his music sounds much more like the previous artists. The early 2000’s aesthetic is so entertaining, and I love it. I really enjoyed this album, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Eli.
