Album #1: Sweet Boy by Malcolm Todd
Favorite Song: “Roomates”
Notes: This album is just amazing. It’s one of those albums where you don’t skip any of the songs because every song is perfect and has its own charm. Malcolm Todd’s music reminds me a lot of Steve Lacy with the alternative R&B style it holds. It’s a great listen that is insanely underrated, and I think most people would truly enjoy it.
Album #2: Alter Ego by Lisa
Favorite Song: “Rockstar”
Notes: I had not realized how many songs on this album I had already recognized from hearing them online. It’s an electric pop album with rap elements that blend beautifully to create a fun and upbeat album. I definitely struggled with choosing just one favorite song from this album, but “Rockstar” is definitely my top choice.
Album #3: Dying Art by Meg Donnelly
Favorite Song: “Picky”
Notes: Dying Art is very reminiscent of early-2000s music and matches the vibe of artists like PinkPantheress and Coco & Clair Clair. The lo-fi R&B style truly caught my attention and drew me into the album. I also hadn’t realized that Meg Donnelly is also a very well known Disney actress, mainly for her work on the Zombies movie franchise and the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series tv show.
