The Yellow Jackets hosted the Wesclin Warriors for a tough conference matchup the night of Feb. 17. Despite a hard-fought effort from the home team, the game ended in a 51-65 loss for Chester. While the scoreboard didn’t favor the Jackets that night, the game was a reflection of a season defined by perseverance.Reflecting on the year, Peters admitted that the season felt bittersweet. After years of dedication to the program, coming to the end of his final high school season left him feeling sad, as he prepared to hang up his jersey.
His coach, Chris Toledo loved having Peters on the team, stating that, “I really enjoyed coaching Tray, he is a competitor and a leader, I could count on him to make the right decisions and hold his teammates accountable. Even more impressive is the type of person he is. In the 4 years I’ve coached Tray he never gave us any issues, he was always respectful towards his teammates and us coaches.”
Although Peters does not plan to continue his basketball career at the collegiate level, his journey is far from over. After graduation, he plans to begin a new chapter joining the workforce hopefully at Baldwin Power Plant. While his competitive playing days may be winding down, the pace and excitement of the game he’s loved since childhood will always remain a part of him.
