Mason Ward, a Junior at Chester high school decided to submit his book for this book review. This book is Scythe by Neal Shusterman.

Citra and Rowan are teenagers who are selected to be Scythe’s apprentices, despite not wanting anything to do with the vocation. They must learn to navigate and master every method of ending life and come to terms with what they must do.

Ward found this dystopian book in Mrs. Hammel’s classroom, which is now Mr. Tullis’s classroom. He said “I like dystopian books a lot, and with the idea that immortality can be achieved, or already has in this book, brings on the idea of how people will be used to kill some individuals to keep the population down. These government murderers are called Scythes, or the instrument of which brings death.“

Another fun fact about Mason is his favorite place to read is “in bed wrapped in 2-3 blankets”.
