The Varsity Yellow Jackets took to the road and earned a 16–1 win against Marissa on March 18. They combined a 10‑hit barrage with disciplined plate appearances to secure the win in just four innings.
Junior Alex Blechle was the undisputed star of the afternoon. Blechle was a nightmare for Marissa’s pitching staff, finishing a perfect 3‑for‑3 at the plate. He didn’t just find gaps, he crushed the ball, recording a double in the first, another double in the second, and a triple in the third. His two‑run double in the second inning served as the catalyst for a five‑run surge that effectively put the game out of reach.
Chester’s offense wasted no time getting to work. In the bottom of the first, Jack Luthy laced an RBI double down the left‑field line, followed by a bases‑loaded walk from Reagan Sims to set the tone.
The pressure never let up. By the fourth inning, the Yellow Jackets added another five runs to their total. Kanon Jany contributed an RBI single, while Trayton Peters capped off the scoring with a towering two‑run double. The team’s patience was equally impressive, drawing six walks—two of which came from Preston Liefer, who also terrorized Marissa on the bases with two stolen bases.
While the offense provided plenty of cushion, Peters ensured Marissa never had a chance to climb back into the game. He was nearly untouchable over four innings, allowing zero earned runs and surrendering only a single hit. He struck out seven batters, showcasing a command of the zone that left Marissa hitters guessing all afternoon.
