Chester High School is hosting a Family Fun Night from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on April 20. The event will offer a variety of resources for students and fun activities for everyone. Food and drinks will be served, and there will be several competitions. We encourage you to attend and participate in the entertaining events we will be holding. The event is for students of all ages (K–12) and their parents; there will be different activities for both.
There will be many useful resources, including, but not limited to, ComWell, Western Egyptian, Life Network, Birth to Five, Southern Illinois Immigrants Rights Project, DCFS, and others. Representatives from these organizations will be present—please feel free to speak with them. We encourage you to ask questions and make conversation. If you are interested in any of the careers represented, ask the representatives how they like working in that field.
In addition to the resource tables, the event will host games such as Kahoot, glow bingo, Minute-to-Win-It games, a basketball tournament, board and card games, a dodgeball tournament, a creativity room, and Mario Kart 1 & 2. The dodgeball tournament will rotate age groups every 20 minutes, starting with K–4 and ending with grades 9–12. The basketball tournament will change formats every 30 minutes; formats include knockout, open-shoot, and a special competitive game for grades 9–12 toward the end of the evening.
Ms. Vahling: “Our goal is to really get the community together and have a fun, relaxing evening where we can chat and hopefully connect people to any needed resources.”
All food and drinks will be served in the media center, and everyone participating in the event will receive a treat. There will also be an attendance raffle, you can sign up for a chance to win an exciting prize. We are excited to host this event and can’t wait to see your smiling faces.
