Raven is a student who goes to Chester High School, she has grown up her entire life here. She writes poems and books and sings to get over any stress she may have, so the theme of “stress” this month came rather easily.
Although sometimes stress can suck, it can also help you find yourself which is what the poem I created is about. I hope you feel as if you can find yourself too!
“Puppet’s Strain”
Dance again and again
Spinning under the hands of the man I love
Puppet strings coming off my back
The strings he called tough love
Because I am always the lover not the loved
Dance again and again
Spinning under the hands of the father whom I love
Puppet strings ripping at my back
The strings are just tough love
Get over it
Because I am always the lover not the loved
Dance again and again
Spinning under the hands of the friends who have my back
Literally
The strings tearing open my back and grabbing my heart squeezing
Get over it
It’s tough love
Love
Not hate
Tough love
The stress of the lover is never being the loved
The puppet is trapped
Under the love they called tough
It is tough, just not love.
The puppet escaped
Finding herself along the way
The stream of strain and tough love
Helped her be loved
She is no longer the lover, but loved too.
