Yellow Jackets Baseball Takes Two at Bluford

After beating Marissa 11-10 on Wednesday, falling to Du Quoin on Thursday, and losing to West Frankfort on Friday, the Yellow Jackets baseball team won both games on Saturday to improve their record to 4-3.

In Game 1, the Jackets jumped out to a 5-0 lead early and never looked back. By the 5th inning, the Yellow Jackets led 10-0. In the bottom of the 5th Bulford scored 3 runs to make it a seven-run game. The Jackets came storming back in the top of the 6th, scoring 8 runs to take an 18-3 lead. Senior Nick Meyer went 3-4 with 3 RBIs and junior Chett Andrews went 3-4.

In Game 2, the Jackets were held scoreless in the top of the 1st while Bluford jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Yellow Jackets tallied 3 in the 3rd, 5 in the 4th, 6 in the 5th, and 7 in the 6th to take a 21- 5 lead. The 4th inning was capped off by a home run from junior Ethen Eggemeyer, who went 3-4 with 6 RBIs.
