Two members of the Chester High School Girls’ Track Team qualified for state after their performances May 8 at the Sparta Sectional.

Josie Kattrenbraker won the long jump and high jump to qualify for state in both events. She leaped 16’6.75″ to win the long jump.

In the high jump, Kattenbraker and teammate Lauren Soellner both outdistanced the field with jumps of 4’8″. Kattenbraker was awarded first and Soellner second.

The top two places in each event qualify for the state meet May 16-16 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

As a team, Chester placed fourth with 55 points. Belleville Althoff won the meet with 148 points.
