It: Chapter 2 Review

Jaci South, Sting Editor

The 2017 remake of It received mostly positive reviews with complaints of a lack of scariness. About two weeks ago, the sequel was released. After watching the remake and agreeing with the complaints fans had, my friends and I headed to watch It: Chapter 2 in theaters. The director clearly listened to the complaints as the scariness was ramped up in Chapter 2 compared to Chapter 1. Unfortunately, most of the horror relied on jump scares, which aren’t my cup of tea. My friends, however, seemed to like this sequel more than the remake.

The movie started very strong for me, but the last thirty minutes went downhill. It got very fantasy like, with shooting that reminded me of something in Indiana Jones.

If you enjoyed It (2017), chapter 2 is definitely worth seeing. However, if you were a fan of the book but disappointed with the movie, don’t expect for chapter 2 to be too drastic of an improvement.
