Jackets Open Season 2-1

After waiting 11 months to get back, the Chester Yellow Jackets extended their stay with a 66-65 overtime win at Vienna Feb. 5.
Four Yellow Jackets were in double figures, with senior Jordan Hughes leading the way with 20 points. Matt Korando scored 15 points, Eli Hughes 12 and Jared Landeros ten. Trace Fricke scored six points and Gavin Schroeder two.
Jordan Hughes and Landeros each had two three-pointers.

Vienna led 17-13 after the first quarter, but Chester roared back to take a 33-28 halftime lead. The Jackets extended the lead to seven points, up 46-39, after three quarters. Vienna battle4d back to tie the game 56-56 after regulation.  The Jackets took an early overtime lead and held on for the win.

“Awesome win for our guys,” Coach Brad Norman said. “They competed all night.”

The Jackets beat Cairo 56-45 at Pinckneyville on Feb. 6. Landeros scored 20 points, Korando 11 and Jordan Hughes ten. Eli Hughes tallied seven and Jordan Merideth three. Nate Heffernan and Schoeder scored three each and Fricke one.

On the same day, Chester lost to Pinckneyville 53-37.

Landeros led Chester with 15 points and Jordan Hughes scored nine. Korando had four.

Fricke and Heffernan each sank a three-pointer. Schroeder scored two and Merideth one.
