Chester Loses To Vandalia In Playoffs

Seniors in fall sports, dance, cheerleading and band were honored at the Chester-Mt. Vernon game.

The Chester Yellow Jackets finished their season 7-3 after losing to Vandalia 24-0 in the first round of the IHSA playoffs.

The Chester Yellow Jackets closed out its regular season with a 31-15 win over Mt. Vernon on Senior Night.

Freddie Alvarez returned a kick0ff 89 yards for a touchdown and also scored on a 28-yard pass from Ethan Stumpe. Stumpe also connected with Cooper Eggemeyer for a 46-yard touchdown pass.

Jordan Meredith rushed for a TD and gained 84 yards on 15 carries. Eggemeyer caught two passes for 57 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, Chester recovered three fumbles. Isaac Jany had ten tackles, including three tackles for a loss (TFL) and 1.5 sacks. Matt James had 5.5 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss and a half sack. Aiden Jany had 5.5 tackles, a sack and one TFL.

Chester finished the regular season 7-2 and won the Illinois Division of the Cahokia Conference outright.
