Boys Lose Track Title By 1/2 Point

The Chester boys’ track team lost the title of the Cahokia Confer4ence Illinois Division by the closest of margins, losing to Wesclin by one-half point.

Wesclin captured the title with 137 points, barely edging Chester’s total of 136.5. Chester held a slim lead going into the final event, the 4  x 400 relay. Wesclin won the event for ten team points. Chester was second, gaining eight points.

Chester had five conference champions in the meet. Jacob Cowell continued his dom9nance in pole vault and also won the 300 hurdles. Cowell also took third in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump.

Isaac Jany dominated the throwing events, winning the shot put and discus.

Aiden Jany took first in the 400. He was third in the 200.

Gabe Steele took second in the 110 hurdles and captured thirds in the high jump and 300 hurdles.

Will Schuwerk took second in the 100, Lannin Caron finished second in the pole vault and Blake Farmer was second in the 800.

Jacob Handel placed fourth in the 400.

Fifth place finishes were registered by Freddie Alvarez in the triple jump, Cooper Eggemeyer in the high jump and Garret Hopkins in the 800.

The 4  x 800 relay was second, 4 x 100 relay third and 4 x 200 relay fourth.

Jacob Cowell won the pole vault at the conference meet.
