Jany To Run Track At McKendree

Aiden Jany (center) won the 400 and took second in the 100 to qualify for state in both events.

Aiden Jany had a good day May 18.

The Chester High School senior signed a letter of intent to run track at McKendree College, then headed to the Chester track where he qualified for the state track meet in two events.

As with most members of the Class of 2022, Jany’s high school career was impacted by Covid. As a freshman, he qualified for state in the 100, 200 and 400, but the state meet was canceled his sophomore year. After an injury-plagued junior year, Jany showed his college bona fides this season by winning the 400 and finishing second in the 100 to bookend his high school career with trips to state.

Jany was also an all-conference selection on Chester’s conference champion football team.
