The Chester Yellow Jackets Boys’ Golf Team improved their record to 12-9 with a 7th place finish at the annual Anna-Jonesboro Tournament and wins over New Athens and Red Bud.

On August 21st, the boys traveled to Anna-Jonesboro to compete in the annual 18-hole Anna-Jonesboro tournament. The Chester Boys shot a team score of 350, finishing 7th out of 13 teams. After rounds of 69, 2 under par (-2), Ian Davis of Carbondale beat Parker Ranken of Nashville on the first playoff hole to win the tournament. Chance Mott led the Yellow Jackets with a score of 80 (+9). Other Varsity Chester scores as followed, Clayton Andrews 89 (+18), Noah Homan 90 (+19), Gage Hasemeyer 91 (+20), Aidan Blechle 92 (+21), and Lucas Thompson 93 (+22)

The Chester Boys took on Steeleville at home on Thursday, August 25th. Chester shot a team score of 155, losing to Steeleville by one stroke. Avery Hamilton of Steeleville was the medalist with a round of 33, 3 under par (-3). Gage Hasemeyer led the Jackets with a score of 37 (+1). Other Varsity Chester scores were Chance Mott 38 (+2), Clayton Andrews 39 (+3), Lucas Thompson 42 (+6), Noah Homan 43 (+7), and Aidan Blechle 44 (+8).

On August 30th, Chester hosted Okawville, Red Bud, and New Athens. Chester shot a team score of 163, beating New Athens and Red Bud but falling to Okawville. Clayton Andrews medaled and led the Jackets with a score of 37 (+1). Other Varsity Chester scores were Chance Mott 40 (+4), Lucas Thompson 43 (+7), Gage Hasemeyer 43 (+7), Aidan Blechle 43 (+7), and Noah Homan 49 (+13).
