The Chester Lady Yellow Jackets Took second at the Candy Cane Classic.

The Chester Lady Yellow Jackets girls’ basketball team took second at the Waterloo Gibault Candy Cane Classic.

Chester opened play Dec. 13 with a 52-32 win against Red Bud. Lexie Mott led Chester with 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist. Camryn Howie had a great game, leading Chester in rebounds, assists, and steals. Howie had 14 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. Rylie Conley and Jazzi Merideth scored five points each. Aubrey Coleman scored four points, Emma Diskey three and Camryn Wolff two.

Chester downed Gibault 43-32 on Dec. 15. Mott had 17 points and 14 rebounds. Howie also had a double-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. Emma Diskey scored eight points, Jessica Stumpe four, Coleman two and Merideth one.

Chester (5-7) lost to Columbia in the championship game, 62-33.

Howie had 11 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three steals. Mott, who was named to the all-tourney team, had six points and 12 rebounds. Stumpe scored five points, Conley four, and Merideth three. Wolff and Coleman netted two points each

The Chester Lady Yellow Jackets used a fourth-quarter rally to post a 46-44 win over Sparta on Dec. 5.

Chester avenged a loss in the Sparta Invitational and also posted its first conference win of the season.

Jesse Stumpe gets player of the game with 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Camryn Howie led Chester in points with 12 and had 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Lexie Mott had 7 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block.

Camryn Wolff also had seven points and Jazzi Merideth netted four. Riley Conley scored three, Emma Diskey two and Lillian Diskey one.

Chester lost to Okawville 46-12 on Dec. 8 to fall to 1-3 in conference. Conley led Chester with seven points. Howie scored four and Merideth one.
