Disney Made Another Bad Sequel

Mikayla Straight, Sting Reporter

Disenchanted should have never been made. The movie is a sequel to the movie, Enchanted. The movie’s story is about how Giselle, the main character, becomes evil because of a gift she had been given. She starts acting like a typical evil stepmother, sabotaging her step-daughter’s life but not knowing why she did it. This is the only clear point one could grab from the movie.
The movie is built on the idea that the magic from the gift she was given was extremely powerful, and she inherited this evil from that magic. When watching, the first thing the viewer sees is a sweet sequel, but then it becomes very cheesy and out of touch. By the end, it is an obvious happily ever after, but how long it takes to get there just seems unneeded. On top of the poorly-executed storyline, the movie is a musical. So when one starts to think that the story is finally moving, the cast suddenly jumps into song and ruins the moment. The story becomes confusing with this added element. Also, the movie is supposed to be a comedy, but after watching the movie, I could not tell that was the case until I researched the movie online.

It feels like the movie is a last-second decision, or a cash grab, having the cast they had or the name from the previous movie. Nothing could get me to endure that atrocity again, even if someone paid me. This movie is not worth wasting one’s time on when there are plenty of comedy, musical, and fantasy movies that are actually worth the watch.
