A big third quarter led Benton to a 58-47 win over the Chester Lady Yellow Jackets Jan. 23 at Chester.
Benton held a 28-22 halftime lead before putting the game with a 24-9 run through the third quarter. Chester outscored Benton 16-6 in the fourth quarter, but the comeback came up short. Senior Camrynn Howie led the Jackets in scoring with 14, followed by Rylie Conley with 12, Jazzi Merideth with 7, Jessica Stumpe with 7, Lexie Mott with 4, and Emma Diskey with 3.
The Chester Yellow Jackets Girls’ Basketball Team traveled to Okawville on Jan. 27 for a conference game. This would be a tough game for Chester. Okawville sits at 1st in the conference with a 7-0 conference record, including an overall record of 22-4. The Chester girls had a rough first half going into halftime down 39-7. The girls played a good 2nd half, scoring 20 points and only allowing Okawville to score 22. Chester lost 61-27. The girls will play again against Wesclin on Monday, January 30, at home.
