All the Sting members gather to show off their awards from SISPA.

The members of The Sting took a trip to SIUC to attend the Southern Illinois School Press Association (SISPA) winter conference.
The students competed in many contests or attended presentations. Several students also visited the SIU Journalism Department and toured the WSIU studio,

The Sting won the Blue Banner Award for the ninth straight year at the SISPA winter conference.
Ace Smith won firsts for editorial and website feature and seconds for website feature and homepage design.
Bethany Baughman and Emma Eggemeyer won first for video story.
Kerringtyn Malley won second for original art and third for onsite editorial cartooning.
Other second place finishers were Julia Venus, editorial cartooning; Mikayla Straight, news writing; and Aden McFarland, multimedia storytelling.
Other third place award winners were Chelsea August, multimedia storytelling; TJ Lyons, review writing; Isaiah Ferrell, onsite graphic design; and Malachi Greathouse, ad design.
Mr. Springston was presented the Manion Rice Advisor of the Year Award.
