The CHS Music Department took 98 events to the IHSA Solo and Ensemble contest on March 4 at Carbondale Community High School. The music department is currently placed at 5th in Class B with 504 points total.

Students prepared a total of 98 entries that consisted of vocal solos, vocal ensembles, instrumental solos, instrumental ensembles and a chamber choir. 72 entries were counted as I’s, 24 entries were counted as II’s, and 2 entries were counted as III’s.

Six students counted perfect scores. They were Nico DeGuzman, Hannah Kaempfe, Mirra Kreig, Ace Smith and Jason Sibley with vocal solos, and Max Blechle with a Snare Drum solo.

This was a very successful year at IHSA Solo and Ensemble for the CHS Music Department.
