Four Chester High School seniors attended State Sen. Terri Bryant’s Spring Youth Advisory Council session on Wednesday, March 15, in Springfield.
Attending were Maleia Absher, Aidan Blechle, Hanna Colvis and Jacob Handel.
The students also attended State Sen. Bryant’s Fall 2022 Youth Advisory Council.
Students from high schools within the 58th Senate District were selected by principals, teachers, and administrators.
The chosen students met with State Sen. Bryant and her staff to hear from legislative leaders, brainstorm and discuss issues that are important to today’s youth, and experience the legislative process.
The students discussed public policy issues in the fall session before experiencing a mock committee hearing.
“The idea behind this initiative is to engage students who are interested in a public service career in order to connect with elected officials and other leaders and learn how our legislative process truly works,” State Sen. Bryant said.
