The Chester Lady Yellow Jackets softball team fell 4-1 to Carlyle on March 28, despite out-hitting them seven to four.
Chester opened the scoring in the first inning when Emma Eggemeyer singled in a run. Eggemeyer also had a double and a stolen base, but took the loss despite allowing only four hits and four runs over six innings. She struck out two.
Elaina Lutman and Camryn Wolff also had two hits each. Lutman stole two bases and Wolff had a double. Kinsli McCartney had Chester’s other hit.
The Chester Yellow Jackets Softball Team played at Du Quoin on Thursday, March 23. The Jackets won 6-1.

The Lady Jackets got off to a slow start on the offensive side in the beginning of the game. Chester was scoreless through five innings and trailed 1-0. The bats picked up and the Lady Jackets scored three runs in the sixth and seventh inning, giving them a five-run lead that they would hold onto.

Lexie Mott pitched all seven innings for the Jackets, giving up just one hit and one run with eight strike outs.

Elaina Lutman, Camryn Luthy, Lexie Mott, Emma Eggemeyer, Alexis Eggemeyer, Camryn Wolff, and Whitney Sulser all recorded a hit for the Jackets. Camryn Luthy recorded the only extra base hit for the Jackets. Lexie Mott, Emma Eggemeyer, and Alexis Eggemeyer all recorded an RBI. Along with the hits, Emma Eggemeyer and Camryn Luthy each had a stolen base. Camryn Wolff had two and Elaina Lutman stole three.

The game at Pickneyville on Saturday, March 25, was cancelled.

The Chester Yellow Jackets Softball Team faced off against Steeleville at home on Monday, March 20th. Chester won 8-0.

The Lady Jackets started off the game hot, scoring six runs in the first two innings. These would be the only runs scored by the Jackets until the bottom of the sixth when they added two more runs to that total.
Emma Eggemeyer pitched all seven innings of the shutout win for the Jackets. Eggemeyer gave up just one hit with twelve strikeouts.
Chester had six different players with hits, including Elaina Lutman, Camryn Luthy, Lexie Mott, Emma Eggemeyer, Alexis Eggemeyer, and Kinsli McCartney. Mott’s hit was a double. Along with the hits, Emma Eggemeyer and Lexi Eggemeyer each had 2 RBIs. Kourtney Welten also had an RBI.Luthy stole two bases. Also stealing bases were Alexis Eggemeyer, McCartney and Lutman.

The Lady Jackets play again on Thursday, March 23, at Du Quoin.
