Chester’s Concert Band received a II

After the IHSA Organization that took place on April 14 had resulted in the Chester Music Department receiving 5th overall in Class B. Jazz band and choir both received I’s and concert choir and band received II’s. Overall, the music organzation racked up 729 points and was Chester’s highest point total it ever received in the IHSA Sweepstakes competition.

The competition was from 4:15pm – 10:00pm for the kids at Chester. Band played first, performing “Forged in Steel,” “Princeton Variations,” and “American Flourish.” The solosists for the concert band consisted of many members of the band. The next performance came from the jazz band which performed “Abacus,” “Cool Cats,” and “On Ya’ Bike.” The soloists for the performance were composed of its members. Thirdly, the concert choir went next to sing “Carry the Light,” “Let Me Be The One,” and “This Land Is Your Land/America.” The soloists for the concert choir were Ace Smith, Jessica Ixcoy, and Tulsa Addison. Last but not least was the jazz choir which performed “Puttin’ On The Ritz,” “Till There Was You,” and “Orange Colored Sky.” The soloists for the jazz choir were Mirra Krieg, Julia Venus, Cesar Marquez, and Chelsea August.
