Michael Hubert, Chester High School junior, placed sixth in welding at the Skills USA State Leadership and Skills Conference in Springfield on April 11-13.

Hubert was among six students from the Career Center of Southern Illinois who competed in the state championship for vocational skills. Hubert was among three CCSI welding students to finish in the top ten.

Anthony Glaser from Chester competed in automotive services and placed 17th.
