Chester lost to Carlyle 59-51.

Chester was edged by Carlyle 59-51 in a Cahokia Conference game on Dec. 7.

Carlyle jumped out to an early lead, but Chester stormed back through the middle quarters and took a 39-36 lead into the fourth quarter. The game was tight into the final minute, but Carlyle pulled away at the foul line.

Coach Toledo said slow starts have plagued the Jackets all season.

Jared Landeros led Chester with 25 points. Cooper Eggemeyer scored nine points and Chance Mott six. Gavin Schroeder and Trace Fricke had five points each. Ethan Stumpe also sank a free throw.

Chester had a better start against Nashville, but struggled offensively during the later periods in a 58-28 road loss Dec. 14.

Nashville only led 13-10 after the first quarter, but the Yellow Jackets only scored 18 points total over the last three quarters.

Landeros led Chester with 14 points. Fricke and Schroeder scored four points each. Mott netted three points, Aiden Jany two and Devante Palacio one.
