Eggemeyer Finishes 17th At State

Junior Emma Eggemeyer qualified for state at the Du Quoin Girls Track Sectional on May 12.
Emma Eggemeyer took second in the shot put. At the state meet on May 19, she placed 17th. The top nine finishers in the preliminaries advance to the finals.
The 4 x 300 relay of Gianna Eggemeyer, Hannah Blechle, Mabry Wingerter and Jazzi Meredith narrowly missed qualifying, finishing third. Chester’s time of 4:29.49 was less than a fifth of a second behid Sesser’s qualifying second place time of 4:29.31.
Paige Vasquez was also third in the triple jump.
Earning fourths for Chester were Kailyn Absher in the long jump; Hannah Blechle in the pole vault; the 4×200 relay of Blechle, Camrynn Howie, Vasquez and Gianna Eggemeyer; and the 4×800 relay of Madi Kribs, Josalyn Anaya, Rylie Conley and Maria Nickle.
Meredith took fifths in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and high jump.
Wingerter was sixth in the high jump.
As a team, Chester placed third with 43 points. Du Quoin won with 193 and Pinckneyville was second with 51.
